At Stilwell High School, Snowda Watie, a dedicated basketball player, shares insights into her journey and aspirations for the upcoming season.
Reflecting on her favorite coach, Snowda acknowledges her father, Sundown Watie. “He always pushes me to do my best and encourages me to do the best for my team and my role.”
Teammates play a crucial role in Snowda’s basketball experience, and she singles out Jadyn Buttery: “She’s one of my biggest fans, and I am one of hers. She inspires me to always work to be the best, stay focused and not care what other people think.”
In the realm of education, Mr. Hendrix, Snowda’s biology teacher from freshman/sophomore years, stands out. She describes him as someone who helped her see her potential both in the classroom and on the court.
Preparing rigorously for the upcoming season, Snowda emphasizes her commitment to fitness. “This year for sure, I have been running and working out a lot more than I have in the past. We are a running team, and it’s vital that I have my lungs and my legs when it’s go-time.”
Basketball, for Snowda, extends beyond the court, imparting valuable life lessons: “A lot of things, but the most important thing is to continue to work hard even on the days I don’t really want to because if I don’t, I know I’ll regret it.”
Favorite memories for Snowda stem from summers spent with her travel team and school team summer camps, creating a tapestry of shared experiences.
Looking ahead to the season, Snowda sets ambitious goals. “Individually, be a great point guard for my team and lead them to many victories and hopefully another trip to the state tournament.”
Expressing enthusiasm for all matchups, Snowda feels her team has a point to prove in every game. Post high school, she plans to attend NSU in the fall to continue her education and play basketball.
With her sights set on being a standout point guard and leading her team to success, Snowda Watie embodies the spirit of dedication and leadership on and off the court.
