The Lady Indians will return four starters revolving around a solid cast of senior playmakers with a game plan to erase the memory of having last season end one game shy of another trip to the Class 4A state tournament. With speed and athleticism at each position, Stilwell will once again have the skills to score inside and outside. VYPE Top 100 selection Snowda Watie (5-5, Sr.) who averaged 12.8 points and 3.4 rebounds while distributing 3-plus assists per game will captain the Indians efforts. “Snowda’s all-around ability and speed allows her to score in a variety of ways and fuels her aggressiveness on both ends of the floor,” said head coach Terry Sweeney. “She’s a great leader for her team and there’s nothing she doesn’t do well on a basketball court.” Adding size and on-ball skills to the lineup will be Shannon Catron (5-10, Sr.), who added 7.7 points and 5-plus rebounds per contest. “She’s a force on the low block who will not only control the boards but can also push the ball in transition,” said Sweeney. The Lady Indians will also rely upon Kinley Johnson (5-9, Sr.) who added 9.9 points along with 5-plus rebounds joining forces with Katelyn Wilson (5-8, Jr.) and Sloane Sweeney (5-7, Sr.) to intensify the energy of this year’s lineup with a “refuse to lose” mentality. Depth is an advantage again in 2023-24 as Prairie Holmes (5-8, So.), Kaylea Benham (5-8, Sr.), Piper Blackburn (5-10, So.), Emily Cruz (5-7, Sr.), and Kasia Thurber (5-7, Sr.) add a mix of offensive and defensive talents provide the winning combination on both ends of the court. “Our 10-player rotation allows us to create up-tempo play on both ends of the court,” said Sweeney. “With speed, size and athleticism we should have the ability to score inside and outside and be in the hunt for the state tournament again in March.”
